Jeff Kloha

A Chicago native and long-suffering Cubs fan, The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Kloha grew up in Lutheran congregations where his father served as school principal for 40 years. He and his wife, Susan, live in Arlington, VA and have two adult daughters.

He joined Museum of the Bible, Washington, D.C., in 2017. He is responsible for Museum of the Bible’s exhibitions, educational programs, collections, and research areas, managing a team of 45 professionals. He oversees the selection and ongoing care of current and new exhibitions at the museum as well as the programming, research projects, and traveling exhibitions. He develops and manages partnerships with national and international governmental, cultural, and ecclesiastical entities.

Prior to joining Museum of the Bible, Kloha was Provost and Professor of Exegetical Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 1999. While at Concordia, he oversaw two accreditation processes, the transition of the calendar from quarters to semesters, and the revision of curricula. From 1993 to 1999 he served Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Lakewood, OH.

Kloha received a B.A. degree from Concordia College Ann Arbor, an M.Div. and S.T.M. from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and a Ph. D. from the University of Leeds in the U.K. His academic work focuses on New Testament manuscripts, the Pauline Epistles, and early Christianity. Kloha has contributed to 31 scholarly published books and articles and supervised 13 student theses and publications. He is a frequent conference speaker, documentary guest, and spokesperson to the media.
