Michael Gibson

The Rev. Dr. Michael Gibson is the President of the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Prior to his election in June 2018, he served as pastor of Christ Lutheran Church and School, Costa Mesa, CA (2006-2018). Additionally, he served congregations in Huntington Beach and Milpitas, CA. He is a 1980 graduate of California State University, Sacramento; received a Master of Divinity degree in 1984 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO; and was awarded a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, CA in 1996.

Pastor Mike is engaged globally in China, Southeast Asia, and India. His missional passion is to awaken within the Body of Christ a local and global perspective on the Mission of God and to influence organizational systems to free and empower them for mission fulfillment.

Mike was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. He and Kathy have been married for 44 years. Kathy works at Concordia University Irvine as Assistant Director of Advancement Services. The Gibsons have two adult sons, Andrew and Tim.
